Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
-
Pressure gauge K-Jetronic V.A.G 1318
-
Adapter V.A.G 1318/9
-
Pressure gauge adapter V.A.G 1318/17
-
Double connection V.A.G 1318/23
-
Remote control connection V.A.G 1348/3A
NOTE:
-
The fuel pressure regulator regulates the fuel pressure to approximately 4 bar.
-
Fuel pressure regulator is located on fuel filter. From October 2005, the fuel pressure regulator is integrated in the fuel filter and cannot be
replaced.
-
Observe safety precautions.
-
Observe the rules for cleanliness.
CAUTION: Fuel supply line is under pressure. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent injuries and contact with skin.
Before loosening the fuel lines, place a rag around the connection point. Then release pressure by carefully pulling hose off connection.
-
Disconnect coupling of fuel supply line - 1 - and catch escaping fuel using a rag.
NOTE: Press in securing ring to disengage the fuel line.
-
Connect pressure gauge V.A.G 1318 with adapter V.A.G 1318/9 and adapter set V.A.G 1318/17 to fuel filter - 1 - and to supply line - 2 -.
-
Open shut-off valve of pressure gauge. The lever points in the direction of flow.
-
Bleed fuel supply system.
-
Start the engine and run at idle speed.
-
Measure fuel pressure.
-
Specified value: approximately 4.0 bar positive pressure
If specification is not obtained:
-
Switch off ignition.
-
Check delivery quantity of Fuel Pump (FP). See:
-
If Fuel Pump (FP) is OK, replace fuel pressure regulator.
NOTE: From October 2005, the fuel pressure regulator is integrated in the fuel filter and cannot be replaced.
