Wheel Hub: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1.

On Quantum models, remove strut assembly as outlined previously. On all other models, remove wheel bearing housing as outlined previously.

2.

On all models, press hub from wheel bearing housing.

3.

Remove brake dust shield from wheel bearing housing.

4.

With a suitable puller, remove wheel bearing inner race from hub.

5.

Remove retaining clips, then press bearing and outer race from wheel bearing housing. 

NOTE

Damage will occur to the wheel bearing as it is pressed from the housing. Therefore, it will be necessary to install a new bearing.

INSTALLATION

1.

Install outer retaining clip, then press new bearing and outer race into housing. Install inner retaining clip.

2.

Press wheel bearing inner race onto hub assembly.

3.

Install brake dust shield on wheel bearing housing.

4.

Press hub assembly into wheel bearing housing.

5.

Install strut or wheel bearing housing as outlined previously.
