Ash Tray: Service and Repair

Ashtray or Storage Compartment Housing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Trim removal wedge (3409)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

If the ashtray or storage compartment housing is defective -  1 -, then it can be replaced only one time. Replacing the center console cover is not
required.

Remove the center console cover => [ Center Console Cover ] See: Console/Service and Repair/Center Console Cover

Remove the buttons in the center console storage compartment

Vehicles with ashtray

-

Remove the bulb for the front ashtray illumination.

Remove the Cigarette Lighter (U1).

Vehicles with storage compartment

-

Remove the 12 V outlet; removing is identical to removing the Cigarette Lighter (U1). 

Exchanging the ashtray or storage compartment is identical to replacing the rear cup holder.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
