Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

Valve Stem Seals

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Spark plug removal tool (3122 B)

‹› Valve seal removal tool (3364)

‹› Valve stem seal driver (3365)

‹› Adapter (T40012)

‹› Torque wrench (5 to 50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

‹› Valve cotter disassembly and assembly device (VAS 5161)

Removing

-

Remove engine --> [ Engine, Removing ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Removing.

Remove camshafts and camshaft adjusters --> [ Camshafts and Camshaft Adjusters ] See: Camshaft, Lifters and Push Rods/Camshaft/Service and
Repair.

Remove spark plugs using spark plug removal tool (3122B).

-

Turn roller rocker lever upward and secure it with a rubber band. 

-

Place guide plate (VAS 5161/7) onto cylinder head as shown.
