Radiator

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Refractometer (T10007)

‹› Adapter (VAG 1274/8)

‹› Drip tray (VAG 1306) or drip tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG 1331)

‹› Spring-type clip pliers (VAS 5024A)

‹› Cooling system charge unit (VAS 6096)

Removing

-

Remove insulation panel..

-

Drain cooling system. Refer to --> [ Draining and Filling ] See: Service and Repair/Procedures.

Disconnect all coolant hoses from radiator.

Remove front bumper. 

-

Bring lock carrier into service position. See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier

-

Remove radiator fan support with fans. Refer to --> [ Fan Support and Fans ] See: Radiator Cooling Fan/Service and Repair/Fan Support and Fans.

Loosen securing clips for condenser and transmission oil cooler. 

-

Remove upper radiator bolts and remove radiator upward.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

‹› When installing a new radiator, old coolant must not be reused.

Fill cooling system. Refer to --> [ Draining and Filling ] See: Service and Repair/Procedures.

Electrical connections and routing.
