Fuel Level Sensor and Suction Jet Pumps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Wrench (T10202)

‹› Torque wrench (40 to 200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

Requirements

‹› The fuel tank must be drained. Refer to --> [ Fuel Tank, Draining ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel

Tank/Service and Repair/Procedures/Fuel Tank, Draining. 

Procedure

‹› All cable ties which are opened or cut open when removing, must be  replaced in the same position when installing.

Read safety precautions before beginning work. Refer to --> [ Safety Precautions ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air
Induction/Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Safety Precautions.

Observe the rules for cleanliness. Refer to --> [ Clean Working Conditions ] See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air
Induction/Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Clean Working Conditions.

Remove flange with fuel filter on left side of fuel tank. Refer  to --> [ Fuel Filter ] See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine
Performance Checks/Fuel Filter/Service and Repair/Fuel Filter.

Now unclip fuel level sensor and remove it.

If you want to remove the suction jet pumps, proceed as follows:

Fold rear seat bench forward. On vehicles from 12.06, rear seat  bench must be removed.

Cut open carpet on right side from point - A - to  point - B - in pre-cut area - arrow -.

Remove the nuts - 1 - on the right side of the fuel  delivery unit cover. If necessary, remove backrest support - 2 - or  mounting bracket.
