Strut

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Assembly tool (3350)

‹› Press sleeve (VW 455)

‹› Torque wrench (VAG 1332)

‹› Shock absorber set (T10001)

‹› Spring compressor (VAS 6046)

‹› Spring holder (VAS 6046/3)

Remove strut. Refer to --> [ Strut ] See: Removal and Replacement/Rear Suspension/Strut.

Coil Spring, Removing

-

Pre-tension coil spring far enough until upper spring plate is free. 

-

Remove nut from piston rod.

-

Remove components of strut and coil spring using spring  tensioner (VAS 6046) and spring support f/VAS6046  (VAS 6046/3).

CAUTION!
First pre-load spring far enough so that tension is relieved on upper  spring retainer!
