Checking vacuum system
The following instructions are intended to help you find the causes of problems effectively and objectively in the event of complaints about the brake servo or in the event of a so-called »hard brake pedal«.
This check relates to the following components:
t  Brake servo
t  Oil seal between brake master cylinder and brake servo.
t  Non-return valve
t  Vacuum hoses with connectors
t  Vacuum pump (if included)
Measuring results will be influenced by the geographical location. The higher the location is above sea level, the lower the air pressure will be.
Take note of the following test requirements:
t  Visual inspection of all vacuum hoses for damage (e.g. cracks or marten bite) and to check that they are correctly and firmly attached
t  Ensure cleanliness when working on vacuum system.
t  Before starting work, clean engine compartment if necessary.
