Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

Raise and support front of vehicle.

Using a suitable tool, pry off the grease cap.

Remove and discard wheel bearing adjustment nut.

Install new nut and snug with fingers.

Tighten nut firmly to seat bearing, at the same time turning the wheel to keep the bearing from seizing.

Back off nut.

NOTE:  The wheel bearing clearance is correctly adjusted when the thrust washer can be moved slightly with a screwdriver and finger pressure.
DO NOT pry or twist screwdriver.

Using a blunt chisel or other suitable tool, peen nut onto shoulder of steering knuckle.

-

Reinstall grease cap and lower vehicle to ground.
