Removing and installing standard seat
Removing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  With the ignition switched on, disconnect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
   
–  Move the head restraint to the lowest position.
–  Move the front seat -4- as far forwards and upwards as it will go.
–  Screw out the bolts -3, 5- at the rear at the seat rail.
–  Move the front seat as far back and upwards as it will go.
–  Screw out the bolts -1, 2- at the front at the seat rail.
  WARNING
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Unplug the connectors at the connector point in the floor → Chapter.
–  Plug in the connector of the airbag adapter -VAS 6282- at the side airbag connection → Chapter.
–  Lift the front seat out of the vehicle without folding the backrest forwards.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
–  On seats with easy entry facility, make sure the seat rails are locked in parallel.
–  Install the front seat before unplugging the airbag adapter -VAS 6282- → Chapter.
  Note
Make sure the connectors are pressed on as far as they will go and are heard to engage.
–  Plug in the connectors at the connector point in the floor → Chapter.

–  Align the front seat -4- in the vehicle and just hand-tighten the bolts -1, 2- at the front at the seat rail.
–  Move the front seat as far forwards and upwards as it will go.
–  Fit and tighten the bolts -3, 5- at the rear at the seat rail.
–  Move the front seat as far back and upwards as it will go.
–  Tighten the bolts at the front.
  WARNING
The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (airbag, belt tensioner for example) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle when connecting the battery.
–  With the ignition switched on, connect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, the event recorder must be interrogated, erased and interrogated again → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
