Unplugging and plugging in connectors
  Note
The connector point is located in the vehicle floor under the front area of the front seat.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Removal wedge -3409-
t  Airbag adapter -VAS 6282-

Unplugging
  WARNING
Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
–  With the ignition switched on, disconnect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
–  Move the head restraint to the lowest position.
–  Move the front seat as far back and upwards as it will go.
–  Unclip the cover -1- at the front with the removal wedge -3409- and detach the cover -arrow- from the connector point -2-.

–  Release the retainer tabs and lift the wire holder -3- off the connector point.
  Note
The number of connectors may vary depending on equipment. The description relates to the version with maximum equipment.
  WARNING
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to unplug the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
–  Release the retainer tabs and unplug the side airbag connector -4-.
–  Plug in the connector of the airbag adapter -VAS 6282- at the side airbag connection → Chapter.
–  Equipment version with seat heating: Release the retainer tabs and unplug the seat heating connector -1-.
–  Release the retainer tabs and unplug the belt buckle connector -2-.
Plugging in
  WARNING
t  Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example to plug in the connector), the person concerned must „discharge static“, for instance by briefly grasping hold of the door striker plate.
Plug in the connectors in reverse order; paying attention to the following:
  Note
Make sure the connectors are pressed on as far as they will go and are heard to engage.
  WARNING
The battery must be connected with the ignition switched on. If pyrotechnic components (airbag, belt tensioner for example) are inexpertly repaired, this may result in unwanted triggering after connecting the battery. There must not be anyone in the vehicle when connecting the battery.
–  With the ignition switched on, connect the battery earth wire → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27.
  Note
If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, the event recorder must be interrogated, erased and interrogated again → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
