Removing and installing moulded headliner Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Removal lever -80 - 200-

t  Release lever -T10039- for equipment version with sun roof   Note Clean the release lever -T10039- to avoid soiling the moulded headliner. Removing   WARNING Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter. –  Move the front seats into the lowest rearmost position and tilt the backrest to an angle of approx. 45°. –  Remove the upper A-pillar trim panels → Chapter. –  Remove the B-pillar trim panels → Chapter. –  Remove the C-pillar trim panels → Chapter. –  Remove the centre console → Chapter. –  Remove the roof grab handles → Chapter. –  Remove the sun visors → Chapter. –  Remove the sun visor centre mount → Chapter. –  Equipment version with make-up mirror light: Remove the make-up mirror light → Electrical system; Rep. gr.96. –  Remove the front interior light/reading light → Electrical system; Rep. gr.96.

Equipment version with sunroof: –  Fully open the sun roof. –  Release lever -T10039- is to be moved along between trim frame -2- for sun roof opening and moulded headliner -1- until one of the retaining clips -3- is located. –  Consecutively release the retaining clips with the release lever -T10039- as shown -arrow-.

All vehicles (continued):   Caution t  The moulded headliner is highly susceptible to kinking. t  Kinked moulded headliners must be replaced.   Note The retaining clips with catch on the outside of the moulded headliner can only be unfastened as far as the first detent. –  Starting at the outside, carefully unfasten the moulded headliner -1- at the rear at the edge of the roof with the removal lever -80 - 200- as far as the first detent -arrows A-. –  Unfasten the remaining retaining clips -arrows B-.   Note A second mechanic is required to unfasten the last connections and take out the moulded headliner. –  To disengage the retaining clips with catch, pull the moulded headliner to the rear -arrows C-.   Note

The moulded headliner is to be removed through the front passenger door opening. –  Lower the moulded headliner -1- at the front and turn by tilting the left side downwards.

–  Take out the moulded headliner -1- through the front passenger door opening as shown. Installing –  Centrally align the moulded headliner, press in the retaining clips at the rear of the moulded headliner until heard to engage in the body mounting point. Perform further installation in reverse order, paying attention to the following:   WARNING Heed the safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter. –  Fold the lips of the rear lid and door seals over the moulded headliner. Notes on installation: For example tightening torques, component replacement → Chapter.
