q   Toothed belt drive with hydraulically damped tensioning roller - exploded view → Chapter
q   Toothed belt drive with friction-damped tensioning roller - exploded view → Chapter
3 - Bolt
q   10 Nm
4 - Bolt
q   25 Nm
5 - Bolt
q   100 Nm
6 - Camshaft sprocket
7 - Hub
8 - Toothed belt cover (rear)
9 - Sealing grommet
q   Renew if damaged
10 - Hall sender -G40-
q   For camshaft position
q   To remove, remove sealing grommet (- item 9-) from toothed belt cover (rear)
q   Checking → Rep. Gr.23
11 - Bolt
q   Renew
q   Note correct sequence for loosening and tightening → Chapter „Removing and installing cylinder head“
q   Prior to installation, insert washers in cylinder head → Item.

14 - Crankcase breather hose

q   Renew bolt if seal is damaged

q   From fuel filter: white or with white marking
q   Check that it is securely seated
29 - Return hose
q   To fuel filter: blue or with blue marking
q   Check that it is securely seated

q   Renew

q   Checking for distortion → Fig.
q   If renewed, change coolant and engine oil

Checking cylinder head for distortion
–  Use straight edge and feeler gauge to measure for distortion at several points.
l  Maximum permissible distortion: 0.1 mm.
  Note
The cylinder heads of diesel engines must not be machined.

Identification of cylinder head gasket
1 - Part No.
2 - Production code (can be disregarded)
3 - Holes
  Note
Cylinder head gaskets of different thicknesses are fitted depending on the amount of piston projection → Chapter. When renewing just the cylinder head gasket, the new gasket should have the same identification as the old one.
