Removing
–  Remove noise insulation -arrows-.

–  Unscrew all nuts -arrows- at exhaust system/turbocharger.
  Note
  A26-10514
To avoid any damage, the flexible joint must not be bent more than 10°.
–  Support flexible joint (decoupling element) with fixing tool -T40035-.

–  Unbolt heat shield for exhaust system -arrows-.

–  On vehicles with two-piece exhaust pipes, loosen nuts on clamp -4- and move clamp towards rear to separate exhaust system.
–  On vehicles with one-piece exhaust pipes, cut through exhaust pipe at a right angle at cutting point -2- using chain-type pipe cutter -VAS 6254-.
  Note
Disregard -items 1 and 3-.

–  Disengage rubber mountings -arrows- and remove catalytic converter.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts.

–  When reassembling, position the clamp -4- centrally over the markings -1 and 3-.

–  Install clamp so that bolts are positioned horizontally -arrow-.
Bolt connection faces downwards.
The thread of the bolt points to left side of vehicle.

l  1) Renew nuts.
l  2) Coat threads and contact surface of bolt heads with high-temperature paste; for high-temperature paste refer to → Parts catalogue.
