Steering pinion with steering torque sensor, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

Removing 

-

Remove steering gear.

-

Clean steering gear in area of steering pinion, locking bolt and adjustment screw.

-

Clamp steering gear, as shown in illustration.

1. Bracket VW 540/2
2. Thrust piece 3253/6 (2x)
-

Remove thrust piece from steering pinion side.

-

Turn steering gear to straight-ahead position.

-

Unclip sensor wire at steering gear housing.

Remove locking bolt - arrow -.
