Clamp steering gear, as shown in illustration.

1. Bracket VW 540/2
2. Thrust piece 3253/6 (2x)

Turn steering gear to straight-ahead position.

Using a 4 mm diameter drill bit, drill out 6 peenings until dimension - a - is reached. Do not drill below dimension - a - 3 mm.

Remove drill shavings completely from steering gear housing, using Wet and dry cleaner V.A.G 1373 or similar.

Remove adjustment screw.

Remove spring and seal - arrow -.
