Peen adjustment screws - arrows - 6 x using a center punch.

New punch marks must be offset by two graduation marks in relation to previously drilled out punch marks on adjusting screw.

Mark one of the graduation marks on adjustment screw relative to steering gear housing.

Unscrew adjustment screw 6.5 graduation marks to left.

-

Turn adjustment screw 1 graduation mark to right.

While turning adjustment screw, resistance caused by punch marks must be noticeable.

Install dial gauge with 0.001 scale, as shown in illustration.

Set dial gauge to 2 mm preload.

Remove boots on steering pinion side from steering gear housing.

Turn rack on tie rod using Torque Wrench V.A.G 1332, set to 40 Nm, and Open-jaw Torque Wrench Insert V.A.G 1923. When Torque Wrench
V.A.G 1332 has reached set torque, set dial gauge to "0".

Remove Torque Wrench V.A.G 1332 from tie rod.

-

Check value indicated on dial gauge.
