Repairing airbag
Removing and installing airbag control unit

  • Control unit plug
  • Nut
    • ‒ Tightening torque 8 Nm
  • Control unit
  • ◆ Removing
    • ‒ Detach battery earth strap.
    • ‒ Remove lower section of centre console
    • ‒ Remove lower steering column cover => Fig.1
    • ‒ Remove tunnel brace => Fig.2
    • ‒ Remove accelerator pedal stop.
    • ‒ Remove footwell air outlet => Fig. 3
    • ‒ If necessary, cut carpet and soundproofing in area of control unit.
 
A69-0010
    • ‒ Move safety bracket of control unit plug -1- over until it engages again.
    • ‒ Disconnect plug -1-.
    • ‒ Unscrew nuts -2- (3x).
    • ‒ Remove control unit -3-.

Notes:

Renew coding if control unit is replaced.

  • ‒ → Unscrew plastic nut -1- and remove cover -A-.

  • ‒ → Unscrew bolt -1- at bottom and bolts at top (2x). Tightening torque 14 Nm.

  • ‒ → Remove connection pieces between footwell and rear air outlet -B-.
  • ‒ Unscrew bolts -C-.
  • ‒ Remove footwell air outlet -D- in direction of driver's side footwell (arrow).
