Important
  • Steering wheel
    • ◆ Removing
  • Plug for coil connector
  • Airbag unit
  • Multi-point socket head bolt 50 Nm
    • ◆ Must always be replaced
  •     4 -    Hexagon bolt 75 Nm
    • ◆ Must always be replaced
 
A69-0066
  • Torx bolts (T30)
    • ◆ 7 Nm
  • Torx key (T30)
  • Self-cancelling ring with slip ring
  • ◆ Removing
Important
  • ‒ Unbolt airbag unit using a T30 Torx key.
  • ‒ Unplug connector -2-.
  • ‒ Lay airbag unit down with the padded side upwards.

  • ◆ Installing
  • ‒ Ensure that connector -2- engages audibly.
  • ‒ Bolt on the airbag unit (7 Nm).
WARNING!
Ensure that no-one is in the vehicle.
  • ‒ Switch on ignition and connect battery earthing strap.

Notes:

  • ◆ After connecting the battery, please ensure that the vehicle accessories (radio, clock, electric window lifters) are checked according to workshop manual and/or operating instructions.
  • ◆ If the fault warning light (K75) for airbag signals a fault after assembly the fault memory must be erased and again be interrogated by using fault reader V.A.G 1551.
