• ‒ Disconnect battery earthing strap/cable.
• ‒ Wheels must be facing straight ahead.
• ‒ Remove airbag unit
• ‒ Remove steering wheel.

=> Running Gear, FWD and 4WD; Repair group 48

• ‒ Unscrew bolts -5- (4x) of functional unit -6-.
• ‒ Unscrew bolts -7- (4x) of coil connector -8-.

• ◆ Should it nevertheless inadvertently be turned centre position is to be determined prior to installation.
• ◆ In centre position it must be possible to turn coil connector approx. 3 1/2 turns to either side.

• Airbag unit
• Connector for airbag and horn
• Securing bolt for steering wheel
• Connector for horn.
• Bolts (4x)
• Functional unit
• Bolts (4x)
• Coil connector

Notes:

• ◆ After connecting the battery, please ensure that the vehicle accessories (radio, clock, electric window lifters) are checked according to workshop manual and/or operating instructions.
• ◆ If the fault warning light (K 75) for airbag signals a fault after assembly the fault memory must be erased and again be interrogated by using fault reader V.A.G 1551.
