Trims for 5-door vehicles with head airbag
Removing and installing upper B-pillar trim
Important

Note:

Airbag label -8- cannot be removed.

  • B-pillar trim
  • ◆ Removing
    • ‒ Remove outer seat belt anchorage point
    • ‒ Unclipping upper B-pillar trim -1- =>Fig.2

    • ‒ For vehicles with interior monitor, unplug connector for interior monitor.
    • ‒ Detach retainers -5- upwards from lower B-pillar trim -6-.
    • ‒ Guide three-point seat belt out of B-pillar trim -1-.
  • ◆ Installing
    • ‒ Before installing the B-pillar trim, check the sheet metal at the mounts for the clips => Fig.3
    • ‒ Insert trim -1- with retaining lugs -2- in retainer tabs on lower B-pillar trim -3-.

Note:

Do not press button when installing.

    • ‒ Insert height adjustment switch in height adjuster -5- => Fig.1
    • ‒ Insert trim -1- with clamps -7- (2x) in mountings -6-.
    • ‒ Clip on and secure trim.
    • ◆ After installing trim ensure seal is seated correctly.

Notes:

Check operation after installing trim:

Height adjuster must engage audibly in each of the 5 possible positions (including top position).

Each time the height adjustment fitting is pressed it should return automatically to the "up" position.

  • ‒ Move slide with button -4- (do not press button) downwards to height adjuster release lever -1- and at the same time insert pin -2- in mount -3-.

  • ‒ → To facilitate disassembly use two assembly hooks -2-.
  • ‒ Apply assembly hooks next to fasteners.

  • ‒ Before installing any trim, the sheet metal -2- in the area of the clamp mounts -1- (2 on each side) must be checked.
  • ◆ The sheet metal must lie flat on the mounts.
  • ◆ Illustration shows a clamp mount which is OK.
  • ‒ Align sheet metal if necessary.
