Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • ◆ Brake filling and bleeding appliance VAS 5234

Or

  • ◆ Brake filling and bleeding appliance V.A.G 1869 A

Removing

  • ‒ → If fitted, remove front left cover -arrows-.

  • ‒ → If fitted, disconnect air intake hose for secondary air pump -1- from air cleaner housing.
  • ‒ Detach air hose -2- at air-mass meter.
  • ‒ Unplug connector for air-mass meter -3-.
  • ‒ Screw out bolts -4- and -5-.
  • ‒ Take out air cleaner housing.
  • ‒ As protection against escaping brake fluid, place a sufficient number of lint-free cloths in area beneath brake master cylinder.
  • ‒ Use brake filling and bleeding appliance VAS 5234 or extractor V.A.G 1869/4 to draw off as much brake fluid as possible from brake fluid reservoir.

  • ‒ → Unplug connector -arrow-.
  • ‒ Remove brake pressure sender.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

  • ‒ Bleed brake system .
  • ‒ Bleed clutch hydraulics.

=> Manual Gearbox; Repair Group 30

  • ‒ Start basic setting for brake pressure sender -1- -G201.

=> Running Gear, Self-diagnosis; Repair Group 01

  • ‒ Perform ESP drive test.

=> Running Gear, Self-diagnosis; Repair Group 01
