  • ◆ T10027 Retainer pin

Notes:

The following points are essential to ensure correct selector adjustment:

  • ◆ Moving parts of selector mechanism and transmission elements must be in proper condition.
  • ◆ Selector mechanism must move freely.

The gearbox, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper condition.

  • ● Gearbox in neutral position.

Disengage retainers for gear selector cable and gate selector cable as follows:

A34-0224
  • ‒ → Push back collar -1- as far as it will go in direction of arrow -2-.
  • ‒ Turn collar -1- as far as it will go in direction of arrow -3- and allow it to engage.

Notes:

  • ◆ The selector cable -4- must be free to move within the retainer.
  • ◆ The illustration shows the gate selector cable. The retainer on the gear selector cable can be disengaged in the same way.

A34-0262

→ Secure the selector shaft as follows:

  • ‒ Push selector lever -1- downwards into gate for 1st/2nd gear (arrow A). At the same time, push adjuster pin -2- in direction of arrow B into gearbox until it engages.

The selector shaft is now locked and cannot be moved any more.

A34-0026
  • ‒ → Pull gear stick gaiter off centre console (arrows).
  • ‒ Pull gaiter up and over gear stick knob.
  • ‒ Pull rubber cover (if fitted) towards gear stick knob.

A34-0271
  • ‒ → If fitted, pull rubber cover away from gear stick until retaining pin T10027 can be inserted in hole -A-(=>Fig. N34-0882, Page34-24).

N34-0882

→ Set gear stick as follows:

  • ‒ Guide selector lever in neutral to the left into gate for 1st/2nd gear.
  • ‒ Use retaining pin T 10027 to lock the gear stick in position.

A34-0263
  • ‒ → Make sure that gate selector cable -1- and gear selector cable -2- are properly inserted in their retainers -3- and are not under tension.
  • ‒ Turn each collar -4 as far as it will go in direction of arrow, then release.

The spring presses the locking mechanism into normal position.

A34-0264
  • ‒ → Pull adjuster pin -2- back into initial position -direction of arrow-.
  • ‒ Pull retaining pin T 10027 out of selector mechanism.
  • ‒ Fit cover (gaiter) for gear stick.

Functional check

  • ● The gear stick lever must rest in the 3rd/4th gear gate with gearbox in neutral.
  • ‒ Operate clutch.
  • ‒ Select all gears several times. Pay particular attention to the operation of the reverse gear lock.

Should a gear fail to engage smoothly after repeated selection of 1st, 2nd, 5th or 6th gear, check the following:

  • ‒ Carefully guide gear stick lever in neutral to the left into the gate for 1st/2nd gear.

N34-1088
  • ‒ → The selector shaft must move downwards (arrow 1).
  • ‒ If the shift mechanism is correctly adjusted, the locking pin -A- can now be pushed into the gearbox (direction of arrow) and thus into the selector shaft gate (2nd mechanic).
  • ‒ If this is not the case, adjust selector mechanism=>Page 34-20.
