Dismantling and assembling selector mechanism
Lubricate all bearings and moving surfaces with polycarbamide grease -G 052 142 A2-.
1 - Selector lever handle
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
2 - Sleeve
q   Clips into selector lever handle
q   Prevents selector lever handle from being pulled off
3 - Cover
q   Includes symbol panel
q   Clipped into frame -item 5-
4 - Printed circuit
q   Can be tested via electrical check and measured value block → Automatic gearbox 09A, self-diagnosis; Rep. gr.01
5 - Frame
q   With sliding cover
6 - Cable clip
q   Inserted in frame -item 5-
7 - Bracket
q   For selector lever cable
q   Fitted on heat shield for tunnel (front)
8 - Locking plate
q   Secures selector lever cable to shift unit
q   Always renew
9 - Selector lever cable
q   Do not bend or kink
q   If the protective sleeve is damaged, the selector lever cable must be renewed
q   Checking and adjusting → Chapter
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Do not lubricate cable eye and ball socket
10 - Flange nut
q   10 Nm
q   For securing cover to shift unit
q   4x
q   Self-locking
q   Always renew
11 - Cover
q   For shift unit
q   With glued-on gasket
12 - Bolt
13 - Pawl
q   For selector lever lock
q   Engages in cable lever of shift unit
14 - Selector lever lock solenoid -N110-
q   Can be renewed with selector mechanism installed in vehicle
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Can be tested via electrical check and measured value block → Automatic gearbox 09A, self-diagnosis; Rep. gr.01
15 - Shift unit
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
16 - Locking cable
q   For ignition key removal lock
q   Must not be kinked
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Adjusting → Chapter
q   Checking ignition key removal lock → Chapter
17 - Steering lock
18 - Clip
q   Installation position: Fit clip from above. Angled ends of clip must point towards steering lock.
