Stress-free alignment of exhaust system l  The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool. l  Note the installation positions and installation dimensions for the exhaust system → Fig. and → Fig..

A - Vehicles without clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer –  Loosen bolts of clamp → Item. –  Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that rubber mounting for rear silencer is preloaded by dimension -a- = 5 ... 11 mm.

–  When positioning clamp, make sure ends of bolts do not project below bottom of clamp -arrow-. l  Bolt connection faces to right. –  Tighten clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

B - Vehicles with clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer –  Loosen bolts on clamps → Item and → Item. –  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that rubber mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by dimension -a- = 5 ... 11 mm.

–  When positioning clamp, make sure ends of bolts do not project below bottom of clamp -arrow-. l  Bolt connection faces to right. –  Tighten bolts on front clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that left-side mounting for rear silencer is preloaded by -a- = 5 ... 11 mm.

–  When positioning clamp, make sure ends of bolts do not project below bottom of clamp. l  Bolt connection faces to left. –  Tighten bolts on rear clamp → Item evenly to 40 Nm.

C - Aligning tailpipes –  Adjust the rear silencer so that there is an even distance between the bumper cover cut-out and the tailpipe ends. l  Distance -a- is the same on both sides. t  Distance -b- = 28 mm –  If necessary, loosen mounting for rear silencer to adjust the tailpipes.
