Notes:

• ◆ In some operating statuses, the intake air is fed via the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18. By means of this admixture, a lowering of the combustion temperature and consequently an improvement of the exhaust gas composition is achieved.
• ◆ Actuation of the exhaust gas recirculation system is performed by the engine control unit via the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18.
• ◆ Every conceivable valve position is possible through pulsed actuation.
• ◆ The exhaust gas recirculation potentiometer -G212 signals the current position of the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18 to the engine control unit. The valve and the potentiometer are integrated in a single component.
• ◆ If the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18 is blocked in the open position, this is noticeable due to poor idling characteristics.
