Removing and installing map-controlled engine cooling thermostat
Removing and installing map-controlled engine cooling thermostat
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clip pliers -V.A.G 1921-

Removing
–  Take off engine cover panel -arrows-.
–  Drain off coolant → Chapter.
  A10-0885
–  Unplug connector -2- at map-controlled engine cooling thermostat -F265-.
–  Release spring-type hose clip -1- and disconnect coolant hose from thermostat.
–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove thermostat.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew O-ring.
–  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required.
–  Moisten new O-ring with coolant additive “G12+”.
–  Insert thermostat.
–  Fill cooling system → Anchor.
