  • ◆ → V.A.G 1368 Vacuum tester

  • ◆ → V.A.G 1390 Hand vacuum pump

Test conditions

  • ● Solenoid valve tested and test OK

Note:

This test covers the pipes from the intake manifold to the vent opening on the lower side of the activated charcoal filter.

Test sequence

 
R20-0001
  • ‒ → Pull connecting hose -arrow- to activated charcoal filter off tank breather pipe (white).

Note:

Press buttons on hose couplings to do this.

  • ‒ Remove fuel filler cap.

 
N20-0345
  • ‒ → Connect hand vacuum pump V.A.G 1390 to vacuum tester V.A.G 1368 -connection B- and breather pipe.
  • ‒ Set vacuum tester to -A/B- position.
  • ‒ Operate V.A.G 1390 several times. Vacuum must
        not build-up.

If vacuum builds-up:

  • ‒ Check gravity valve , Item 2
  • ‒ Check pipe -1- (white) for bends or plugging.

If vacuum does not build up:

  • ‒ Refit fuel filler cap.
  • ‒ Operate hand vacuum pump V.A.G 1390 several times.
        Vacuum must not
    build up.

Note:

If the fuel level in the tank is low the hand vacuum must be operated at least 20...30 times.

If vacuum builds up:

  • ‒ Replace fuel tank cap.
