Removing

• ‒ Remove ribbed belt .
• ‒ Remove tensioning element for ribbed belt -arrows-.
• ‒ Drain cooling system=> Page 19-4.
• ‒ Turn crankshaft to TDC position of No. 1 cylinder with engine installed => Page 13-37.
• ‒ Turn crankshaft to TDC position of No. 1 cylinder with engine removed => Page 13-42.
• ‒ Take toothed belt off camshaft sprocket => Page 13-34.

• ‒ → Remove centre section of toothed belt guard -arrows-.

Notes:

• ◆ The vibration damper and bottom toothed belt guard do not have to be removed.
• ◆ The toothed belt should be left in position on the crankshaft sprocket.
• ◆ Before removing the coolant pump cover the toothed belt with a rag to protect it from coolant spills.

• ‒ → Unscrew coolant pump securing bolts -1- and remove coolant pump -2-.

Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

• ◆ When performing repairs, renew seals, gaskets and stretch bolts which have a specified tightening angle.
• ◆ Secure all hose connections with the correct hose clips (same as original equipment)

• ‒ → Lightly coat new O-ring -3- with coolant G 012 A8 D.
• ‒ Fit coolant pump -2-.
• ‒ Installation position: sealing plug in housing faces downwards.
• ‒ Tighten bolts -1- for coolant pump to 15 Nm.
• ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-35

• ‒ → Install tensioning element for ribbed belt => -arrows-.
• ‒ Install ribbed belt .
• ‒ Fill up with coolant=> Page 19-7.

Tightening torques

    1)    Insert with thread-locking adhesive;
        thread-locker
