Dual-mass flywheel

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Counter-hold tool 3067

Removing

• ● Clutch removed

• ‒ → Insert counter-hold tool 3067 in drilling in cylinder block, and engage on flywheel.
• ‒ Insertion position for counter-hold tool:
  A - To tighten
  B - To loosen
• ‒ Mark position of flywheel relative to engine.
• ‒ Unbolt flywheel.

Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

• ‒ Use new bolts for securing.

Tightening torque

    1)    90°= 1/4turn

Drive plate

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Counter-hold tool VW 558
• ◆ Hexagon bolt M8 x 45 and two M10 hexagon nuts
• ◆ Vernier caliper or depth gauge

Removing

• ‒ → Secure counter-hold tool VW 558 to the drive plate with a hexagon bolt M8x45. Place two M10 hexagon nuts -1- between counter-hold tool and drive plate.
• ‒ Mark position of drive plate relative to engine.
• ‒ Unbolt drive plate.

Installing

• ‒ → Locate drive plate with shim -2- and packing plate -1-.
• ‒ Insert at least 3 of the old securing bolts -3- and tighten to 30 Nm.

• ‒ → Check installation position of drive plate by measuring at three points and calculate average.
• ‒ Specification: 19.5...21.1 mm

Note:

Measurement is taken through the hole in the drive plate to the machined surface of the cylinder block.

If the specification is exceeded:

• ‒ → Remove drive plate again and install without shim -2-. Tighten bolts to 30 Nm again.
• ‒ Measure distance again.

If the specification is obtained:

• ‒ Fit new bolts and tighten.

Tightening torque

    1)    90°= 1/4turn
