Notes:

• ◆ Under certain operating conditions exhaust gas is recirculated into the intake air via the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18. This mixture results in a reduction of combustion chamber temperature and thereby better exhaust gas emissions.
• ◆ The exhaust gas recirculation system is controlled and activated by the engine control unit via the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18.
• ◆ Pulsed control makes it possible to obtain any required valve position.
• ◆ The position of the exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18 is given to the engine control unit via the potentiometer for exhaust gas recirculation -G212. The valve and potentiometer are located in the same component.
• ◆ A blocked exhaust gas recirculation valve -N18 in opened position is evident when poor idling occurs.
