Note:

When the engine control unit is disconnected, the learned values are erased but the contents of the fault memory remain intact.

Removing the engine control unit

  • ‒ Switch the ignition off.
  • ‒ Unscrew the windscreen wiper arms and remove the plenum chamber cover.

Note:

To remove the cover, first disconnect the hoses and plugs for the spray nozzles.

  • ‒ → Press the retainer tab on the bracket to the side using a screwdriver, then pull out the engine control unit towards the front.
  • ‒ Release the connector latches and pull of the control unit connectors.

Installing the engine control unit

Installation is performed in the reverse sequence.

Note:

In the first learning phase, during the basic setting operation for the engine, irregular idling and slight jolting during normal driving are possible.

After installing the engine control unit, carry out the following operations:

    • ‒ Perform the encoding of the new engine control unit
    • ‒ Perform adaptation of the throttle valve control unit => Page 24-62
    • ‒ Adaptation of the engine control unit to the immobilizer control unit.

=> Electrical system; Repair Group 01; Immobilizer self-diagnosis; adaptation after replacement of the engine control unit
