Checking intake air temperature sender

Notes:

  • ◆ For testing the operation of the intake air temperature sender, see also "Reading measured value block", Display Group 03, display zone 4.

  • ◆ Fitting location of intake air temperature sender
    => Page .
  • ◆ Engine cooled to room temperature (approx. 20 °C).
  • ‒ Unplug connector from intake air temperature sender.
  • ‒ → Connect ohmmeter to intake air temperature sender.

Specification: 5.7 ... 6.7 kω.

  • ‒ If the value does not match the specification, fit a new intake air temperature sender.
  • ‒ If the value does match the specification, test the wiring between the sender connector and the engine control unit as follows:
  • ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/22 to wiring harness for engine control unit

  • ‒ → Test wiring between 2-pin connector for sender ...

  • ‒ → ... and engine control unit for open circuit and short to positive or earth using current flow diagram.
