Checking electronic engine output control (electronic throttle)
Checking throttle valve control part -J338
The following components are accommodated in the throttle valve control part housing. (Housing is not to be opened)
-
‒ Throttle valve drive -G186 (this is an electric motor actuated by the engine control unit which opens the throttle valve by overcoming a spring force).
-
‒ Throttle valve drive angle sender 1 -G187
-
‒ Throttle valve drive angle sender 2 -G188
Note:
The angle senders take the form of potentiometers (variable resistors). They both provide the engine control unit with an independent indication of the throttle valve position (redundant feature).
The potentiometers cannot be mechanically adjusted. Settings are made as part of the basic setting function (04) using the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 or the fault reader V.A.G 1551.
