Notes:

• ◆ The final control diagnosis can only be performed with the ignition switched on and the engine not running.
• ◆ The final control diagnosis is terminated if the engine is started or if an engine speed pulse is detected.
• ◆ During the final control diagnosis, individual control elements continue to be actuated until the test programme is advanced to the next control element by pressing the ⇒ key.
• ◆ The control elements can be tested either by listening or by touching.
• ◆ If the final control diagnosis is to be repeated without first starting the engine briefly, switch off the ignition for approx. 20 seconds.
• ◆ The electric fuel pump runs continuously throughout the final control diagnosis.
• ◆ The final control diagnosis is terminated after 10 minutes.

The final control diagnosis actuates the following components in the stated sequence:

1. Injector, cylinder 1 -N30

2. Injector, cylinder 2 -N31

3. Injector, cylinder 3 -N32

4. Injector, cylinder 4 -N33

5. Activated charcoal filter system solenoid valve 1 -N80

6. Camshaft timing control 1

• ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 (V.A.G 1552) and select engine electronics control unit with the "Address word" 01. When doing this the ignition must be switched on.
  (Connecting fault reader and selecting engine electronics control unit .)

• ‒ Press keys 0 and 3 for the function "Final control diagnosis".

• ‒ Confirm input with Q key.

• ‒ Turn the throttle mechanism at the throttle valve control part. As soon as the idling speed switch opens, the injector for cylinder 1 will click five times.
• ‒ Press the ⇒ key to advance the programme to the next injector. (It is also possible to advance the programme without testing each injector.)
• ‒ Use this procedure to test all the injectors in sequence.
• ‒ Test any injectors which are not actuated (i.e. do not click)
  => Page 24-25.
• ‒ Press ⇒key.

This solenoid valve will continue to be actuated (i.e. will click) until the ⇒ key is pressed to advance the programme to the next control element.

• ‒ If the valve is not actuated (i.e. does not click), test activated charcoal filter system solenoid valve 1 -N80
  => Page 24-49.

• ‒ Press ⇒key.

This valve will continue to be actuated (i.e. will click) until the final control diagnosis is terminated by pressing the ⇒ key.

• ‒ If the valve is not actuated (i.e. does not click), check camshaft adjustment valve
  => Page 28-32.
• ‒ Press ⇒key.

Note:

Before selecting function 03 "Final control diagnosis" again, switch off the ignition for approx. 20 seconds.
