Testing throttle valve control part -J338

The housing for the throttle valve control part contains the following components:

  • ◆ Throttle valve drive -G186.
(This is an electric motor that is operated by the engine control unit. The motor has to overcome spring pressure in order to open the throttle valve.)
  • ◆ Angle sender 1 for throttle valve drive -G187
  • ◆ Angle sender 2 for throttle valve drive -G188

Notes:

  • ◆ The housing for the throttle valve control part must not be opened.
  • ◆ The angle senders are potentiometers with variable resistance. They inform the engine control unit of the position of the throttle valve and are completely independent of each other.
  • ◆ It is not possible to adjust the potentiometers mechanically. Adjustments can be made using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 or fault reader V.A.G 1551 (in basic setting mode, function 04).
