Test requirement:

• ● Final control diagnosis has been performed

Testing internal resistance

• ‒ Unbolt bracket for secondary air inlet valve from intake manifold.
• ‒ Unplug connector from secondary air inlet valve -N112

• ‒ → Connect multimeter to valve (resistance measurement range)
• ‒ Specification: 25 ... 35 ω
• ‒ If the reading does not match the specification, renew secondary air inlet valve -N112.

Checking voltage supply

• ‒ Unplug connector from secondary air inlet valve -N112

• ‒ → Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B as follows:

• ‒ Operate the starter briefly. (The engine can be allowed to start.)
• ‒ The LED should light up.

If the LED does not light up:

• ‒ Carry out the following tests (marked with dots):

• ● → Check fuse S243 (fuse position 43 in fuse holder).

• ● → Test for open circuit in wiring from connector contact 1 to fuel pump relay via fuse S243 (fuse position 43 in fuse holder):

=> Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations

• ● Test fuel pump relay .

Testing activation

• ‒ → Connect voltage tester V.A.G 1527 B as follows:

• ‒ Start final control diagnosis and select secondary air inlet valve -N112.
  => Page 01-34.

• ‒ The LED should flash.

If the LED lamp does not flash or lights up continuously:

• ‒ Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to wiring harness for engine control unit. Do not connect to the engine control unit itself.
  => Page 24-16.

• ‒ → Test for open circuit and short to positive or earth in the following wiring connections:

• ‒ Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.

If the wiring is OK:

• ‒ Fit a new engine control unit => Page 24-18.
