Checking voltage supply for secondary air pump motor > < Checking voltage supply of secondary air pump relay

Checking actuation of secondary air pump relay
Checking actuation of secondary air pump relay
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Detach secondary air pump relay.
   
–  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527 B- as follows:
  A24-0355
Relay carrier under left cover at the bulkhead
Contact		Measure against
4Battery positive

–  Initiate final control diagnosis and actuate the secondary air pump relay-J299-.
t  The LED should flash.
If the LED does not flash:
–  Switch off ignition.
–  Connect test box -V.A.G 1598/31- to wiring harness for engine control unit. Do not connect to the engine control unit itself.
   
–  Check for open circuit and short to positive or earth in the following wiring connections:
  A24-0355
Relay carrier under left cover at the bulkhead
Contact		Test box -V.A.G 1598/31-
Socket

–  Rectify any open/short circuit as necessary.
If no fault is found:
–  Replace the secondary air pump relay -J299-.
