Checking fuel tank breather > < Checking actuation of secondary air pump relay

A3 Mk1

Checking voltage supply for secondary air pump motor
Checking voltage supply for secondary air pump motor
   
–  Remove centre noise insulation -arrows-.
  A10-0423
–  Unplug connector from secondary air pump motor -V101-.
  A24-0300
–  Connect voltage tester -V.A.G 1527 B-between contacts 1 and 2.
–  Initiate final control diagnosis and actuate the secondary air pump relay -J299-.
t  The LED should flash.
If the LED does not flash:
–  Perform the following checks marked with a dot.
  A24-0331
l  Check for open circuit in wiring of contact 1 of connector and earthing point on the left in the engine compartment: → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
l  Check for open circuit in wiring from contact 2 of connector for secondary air pump relay -J299- (in relay carrier under left cover at bulkhead): → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations
If no fault is found:
–  Replace the secondary air pump motor -V101-.
