Removing

• ‒ Switch off ignition.
• ‒ Remove the windscreen wiper arms (screw connections) and take off the plenum chamber cover.

Note:

When removing the cover disconnect the hoses and plugs for the spray nozzles.

• ‒ → Use a screwdriver to press lug on bracket to one side, then pull engine control unit towards the front of the vehicle.
• ‒ Release the plug holders and disconnect the control unit plugs.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse sequence.

Important note:

After installing the engine control unit the following operations must be performed:

• ‒ Coding the new engine control unit .
• ‒ Adapting throttle valve control unit (J338) .
• ‒ Adapting engine control unit to immobilizer control unit => Page 24-12.

Adapting engine electronics control unit to electronic immobilizer

Test conditions

• ● Authorised vehicle key required

• ‒ Connect fault reader V.A.G 1551 or vehicle system tester V.A.G 1552 with cable V.A.G 1551/3.
• ‒ Switch the ignition on.
• ‒ Press key 1 for "Rapid data transfer".
• ‒ Press keys 1 and 7 for address word "Dash panel insert" and confirm entry by pressing Q.

• ‒ Press the ⇒ key.

• ‒ Press the ⇒key.

• ‒ Press keys 1 and 0 for function "Adaptation" and confirm entry with Q key.

• ‒ Press key 0 twice for "Channel number 0" and confirm entry with Q key.

• ‒ Confirm input with Q key.

• ‒ Conclude adaptation by pressing ⇒ key.

Note:

The identity of the engine control unit is read into the immobilizer control unit the next time the ignition is switched on.
