Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093- or hose clamps up to 25 mm -3094-
  Note
t  On removal, note down bolt lengths and assignment for re-installation.
t  All cable ties and other wiring harness fasteners released or cut open on removing shut-off valve must be fitted in same position on installation.
–  Switch off ignition (and auxiliary heater).
–  Dissipate pressure in coolant circuit by opening cap at coolant expansion tank → Engine, mechanics; Rep. Gr. 19
t  Remove the following components depending on engine version (to facilitate access) → Engine, mechanics
–  Top engine cover panel (e.g. on vehicles with 2.0 ltr. petrol engine)
–  Top engine cover, air duct to throttle valve unit and possibly intake manifold (e.g. on vehicles with 1.6 ltr. petrol engine)
–  Top engine cover and compressed air pipe to intake manifold (e.g. on vehicles with 2.0 ltr. diesel engine)
   
–  Clamp off coolant hoses -A-, -B- and -C- (e.g. using hose clamps up to 40 mm -3093-).
–  Detach coolant hoses -B-, -C- and -D- from heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-.
–  Unplug connector -A-.
–  Remove hexagon nuts -E-.
–  Remove heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-.
  Note
Depending on version of heater coolant shut-off valve -N279-, connections may also be provided for quick-release couplings at connecting flange for coolant hoses.
