Removing and installing cylinder head cover Removing Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-

t  Puller -T40039-

–  Lift off engine cover -arrows-.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- and lift off toothed belt cover.   Note Engage carefully in toothed belt cover (centre) when installing.

–  Remove bolts -1-. –  Unplug electrical connectors -2- from ignition coils and move wiring clear.

–  Disconnect crankcase breather hoses -1- from cylinder head cover. –  Remove ignition coils with output stages -2- using puller -T40039-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Loosen cylinder head cover working from outside to inside. –  Remove cylinder head cover. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew cylinder head cover gaskets if damaged. –  Tighten bolts for cylinder head cover → Fig.. –  Make sure toothed belt cover (top) is correctly fitted. Tightening torques
