| Measuring radial clearance of crankshaft |
| Special tools and workshop equipment required |

| Remove bearing cap and clean bearing journal. |
| –
| Place a length of Plastigage corresponding to the width of the bearing on the bearing journal or in the bearing shell. |

| The Plastigage must be positioned in the centre of the bearing shell. |
| –
| Fit bearing cap and tighten to 65 Nm, but do not turn further. Do not rotate crankshaft. |
| –
| Remove bearing cap again. |
| –
| Compare width of Plastigage with measurement scale. |
