Adjusting assembly mountings Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10-222 A-

Procedure –  Pull off front seal at lock carrier. –  Unplug electrical connector -2- at air mass meter -G70-. –  Detach vent hose -1- and air hoses -3- and -5-. –  Unscrew bolt -4- and remove air cleaner housing.

–  Remove battery → Rep. Gr.27. –  Remove battery tray -arrows-.

–  Set up support bracket -10-222 A- with adapters -10-222 A/3- on wing panel flanges. –  Attach hooks of spindles to lifting eyes. –  Take up weight of engine evenly with both spindles (but do not raise engine).

–  Renew the bolts for assembly mounting at engine -arrows- one by one (if not already renewed when engine was installed). –  Screw in new bolts initially finger-tight.

–  Renew the bolts for assembly mounting at gearbox -arrows- one by one (if not already renewed when engine was installed). –  Screw in new bolts initially finger-tight.

–  Using a suitable lever, adjust position of engine between engine support -2- and support arm -1- until specifications listed below are obtained: l  There must be a distance of -a- = 13.5 mm between engine support and longitudinal member (right-side). l  The side of the engine support casting -2- must be aligned parallel to the support arm -1- (distance -x- = distance -x-).   Note Distance -a- = 13.5 mm can also be checked with a metal rod of suitable size, or similar. –  Tighten bolts for assembly mounting (for engine) to 60 Nm + 90°.

–  On the gearbox side, check that the edges of the support arm -2- and gearbox support -1- are parallel (distance -x- = distance -x-). –  Tighten bolts for assembly mounting (for gearbox) to 60 Nm + 90°. Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Install battery → Rep. Gr.27. Tightening torques
