Removing and installing thermostat with housing Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6362-

Removing –  Drain coolant → Chapter. –  Remove radiator cowl → Chapter. –  Pull out oil dipstick -2-. –  Remove bolts -arrows- and lift off guide tube -1- for oil dipstick.

–  Remove bolts -1 and 3-. –  Release hose clip -2- and detach coolant hose.

–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.24.

–  Release hose clip -1- and detach coolant hose. –  Remove bolts and nut -arrows- and detach front coolant pipes from thermostat housing.   Note Ignore -items 2, 3, 4 and 5-.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and detach thermostat housing. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pump and thermostat with housing - exploded view“   Note t  Fit new O-ring. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring. –  Lubricate O-ring with coolant. –  Install coolant pipes (front) → Chapter. –  Install air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.24. –  Secure dipstick guide tube → Fig.. –  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
