Wheel Bearing: Removal and Replacement
AWD

Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Press Support (30-506B)

‹› Mounting Universal Joint (41-501)

‹› Sleeve (3160)

‹› Assembly Tool (3301)

‹› Support Arm Bearing Tool (3346)

‹› Carrier Bearing Tool (3350)

‹› Torque Wrench (VAG 1332)

Removing

-

Measure dimension from center of wheel to lower edge of wheel housing. Refer to => [ Rear Axle in Curb Weight Position ] See: Steering and
Suspension/Suspension/Service and Repair/Rear Axle in Curb Weight Position.

Remove wheel.

-

Remove coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf )/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Rear Suspension/Coil Spring.

Remove brake carrier and brake caliper and tie to body with wire. 

‹› Do not allow brake caliper to hang from brake line.

-

Remove screw for brake disc and take out brake disc.

-

Remove cover plate.

-

Remove bolt - arrow - for lower transverse link -  1 -.

Pulling Out Bonded Rubber Bushing

-

Install tools as shown in illustration.
