Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair

Lock Cylinder and Ignition Switch with Steering Lock

‹› The immobilizer induction coil is attached to the lock cylinder and cannot be replaced separately.

‹› If induction coil is faulty, lock cylinder must be replaced.

‹› When replacing the lock cylinder, follow the instructions regarding the immobilizer induction coil.

Lock Cylinder

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Steel wire or pin dia. approximately 1.5 mm 

Removing

Extend the steering wheel fully and lower steering column.

Remove the steering column switch module trim.

‹› To remove lock cylinder, replacement key without illumination and radio function is necessary because removal is only possible using a key with

flat grip.

Turn the replacement key to the ignition "on" position; while doing this, the cut out in the trim - arrow - aligns with the hole in the ignition lock.

‹› The correct lock position without the key is shown in the illustration.

Insert a steel wire or a pin all the way into the hole -  1 - while pulling the lock cylinder - 2 - and induction coil out of the steering lock housing - 3
