Convertible top emergency release   Note If for no plausible reason the convertible top cannot be actuated, it may be in an undefined position (which the control unit cannot recognise). Pull the bow upwards as far as it will go and actuate the switch. Unlocking and locking convertible top compartment lid

Convertible top emergency release key in basic position -arrow-

Convertible top emergency release key in operating position -arrow-   Note t  The convertible top emergency release key is located on the left beneath the dash panel fuse carrier cover. t  Use is made in the following of the designation “ERK” to refer to the convertible top emergency release key.

–  Lower side windows by approx. 20 cm. –  Close luggage compartment flap.

–  Open driver's door and remove cover of fuse carrier at dash panel. l  For lifting off, a groove, into which the key can be inserted for example -arrow- is provided at the bottom edge of the fuse carrier cover.

–  Remove “ERK” from holder above fuse carrier in dash panel.

–  Remove the centre section of the rear seat backrest by pressing the small tab downwards slightly and pulling it forwards.

–  Press finger holes together and open cover. –  Press down the ski bag (pull out if necessary).

Move “ERK” to basic position as follows: –  Turn red handle section anti-clockwise as far as it will go. –  Insert “ERK” in opening in top centre of ski bag tunnel.

–  Turn entire “ERK” until small tabs at end of key are felt to enter into a slot. –  Give entire “ERK” a 1/4 of a clockwise turn against stop in lock.

–  Turn red handle clockwise (1.5 turns) until the two “ERK” handle mouldings are heard to engage. l  “ERK” is thus fixed in position in lock system and can be actuated.

–  Open convertible top compartment lid by turning “ERK” anti-clockwise as far as it will go.

–  Open convertible top compartment lid as far as it will go. l  Convertible top compartment lid engages in open position. –  Lift the convertible top out of the convertible top compartment by pulling the end of the roof firmly upwards. Move convertible top manually to centre position as follows: –  Close convertible top until it comes to a halt automatically half way. In doing so, push end of roof as far forwards as possible. –  Lift convertible top bow until it comes to rest in vertical position. –  Carefully close convertible top compartment lid. –  Turn entire “ERK” clockwise as far as it will go. l  Convertible top compartment lid is thus locked.

Remove “ERK” as follows: –  Turn red handle section anti-clockwise as far as it will go. –  Give entire “ERK” a 1/4 of an anti-clockwise turn and pull it downwards.

Unlocking and locking convertible top –  Press bow onto convertible top compartment lid. –  Press convertible top at front of vehicle onto upper windscreen frame. l  In doing so, convertible top may spring open slightly. –  Remove cover in centre of front bracing hoop trim on inside of vehicle.

Move “ERK” to basic position as follows: –  Turn red handle section anti-clockwise as far as it will go. –  Insert “ERK” in opening in centre of front bracing hoop trim. –  Turn entire “ERK” until small tabs at end of key are felt to enter into a slot. –  Give entire “ERK” a 1/4 of a clockwise turn against stop in lock.

–  Turn red handle clockwise (1.5 turns) until the two “ERK” handle mouldings are heard to engage. l  “ERK” is thus fixed in position in lock system and can be actuated.

–  Turn entire “ERK” clockwise as far as it will go. –  Pull convertible top downwards over “ERK”. –  Turn entire “ERK” anti-clockwise as far as it will go. l  The convertible top is thus locked.

Remove “ERK” as follows: –  Turn red handle section anti-clockwise as far as it will go. –  Give entire “ERK” a 1/4 of an anti-clockwise turn and pull it downwards. –  Re-attach cap. –  Close side windows.
