Removing and installing rain sensor

Removing rain sensor   Note Removing the rain sensor damages the foil of the rain sensor and this must therefore be replaced prior to renewed installation. –  Rear view mirror removed → Rep. Gr.70 –  Detach the clip -3- from the retainer plate -1- for the mirror base. –  Unplug the connector to the rain sensor. –  Take the rain sensor out of the mirror base. –  The sensor foil remains bonded to the windscreen. –  If the same windscreen is to be re-installed, this foil must be completely removed from the windscreen. –  Clean the surface with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04. Installing rain sensor   Note Proceed as described if the same rain sensor is to be re-installed.

–  If necessary, remove remnants of the sensor foil from the rain sensor as well. 0 –  Additionally clean the surface with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04.   Caution All the foil remnants must have been removed from the surface on the sensor.

–  Detach the silicone paper from the sensor foil. –  The transparent backing is initially left on the sensor foil as assembly aid.

–  Position the sensor foil with the aid of the transparent backing on the rain sensor.

–  Press the sensor foil as shown in -arrow direction- onto the rain sensor, taking care to avoid blistering.

–  Then detach the transparent backing from the sensor foil.

–  Spray the entire surface of the sensor foil with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04 and insert the sensor in the mirror base.   Caution To ensure proper functioning, the rain sensor must be positioned on the windscreen such that there are neither inclusions nor bubbles. –  Press the clip for the sensor onto the mirror base. Replacing rain sensor   Note Remove the sensor as described above. –  If necessary, remove all remnants of the old rain sensor foil from the windscreen.

–  Clean the sensor contact surface on the windscreen with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04.

–  Detach the backing from the rain sensor. –  Spray the entire surface of the sensor foil with cleaning fluid D 009 401 04 and insert the sensor in the mirror base. –  Press the sensor onto the windscreen such that there is no blistering and attach the clip to the mirror base.   Caution To ensure proper functioning, the rain sensor must be positioned on the windscreen such that there are neither inclusions nor bubbles.
