Removing and installing radiator > < Removing and installing coolant pipe (top)

Removing and installing coolant pipe (bottom)
Removing and installing coolant pipe (bottom)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clip pliers -V.A.G 1921-
Removing
–  Drain off coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove coolant pipe (top) → Chapter.
–  Remove oil filter bracket → Chapter.

–  Disconnect coolant hose -arrow- (leading to heat exchanger) from coolant pipe (bottom).
  A10-0757
–  Unscrew securing bolt -1- on coolant pipe.
–  Pull coolant pipe out of cylinder block -arrow-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
  Note
t  Renew seals.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue.
–  Clean and smoothen contact surface for seal.
  A19-0494
–  Lubricate new seal -1- with coolant additive and push onto coolant pipe -2-.
–  Push coolant pipe into bore on cylinder block.
–  Install oil filter bracket → Chapter.
–  Install coolant pipe (top) → Chapter.
–  Fill up with engine oil and check oil level → Booklet803 or → Booklet805.
–  Fill cooling system → Anchor.
